We are now at 5 songs recorded and ready for final mixing! I am so pleased with yesterday's work with the way 'It's a Long Way Back' came out. This is a song about David's roots in Gateshead/Newcastle area. Its a remembering where you're from and how weirdly familiar a place can be when it is part of your background even if you haven't spent your life there.
It's a lovely song, I was hoping that we could do a nice job with it so that it could be well represented and I think it sounds really nice. There's a pretty little harmonizing mandolin in the beginning and some nice vocal harmonies that sort of fill it out and make it sound almost homey.
And next David tells me we will record 'Frankenstein'. This will be the first bouzouki song so I am excited about that. We shall see how it goes.
Today is day 13 of the minimalist challenge I am on, so 13 thing are to be found and given the boot. It gets a bit more challenging when the numbers get higher. I have a little start, but I will have more to do.
And on it goes. I hope your day goes well and no terrible things happen.
