I wouldn't have believed it. I almost didn't. But here it is. There will be a show and we will be playing at the Grace Jollymore Joyce Arts Centre in Tatamagouche on July 18th at 7 pm. Does that not sound like a show announcement?
Oh yes indeed it is. I can hardly wait to plan the set list. What to play? How to plan? What glorious questions to entertain. It's been a long time without live music. For me both experiencing other artists and playing to an audience has been a hard thing to do without for this long. I really welcome the feeling one gets from experiencing a live show that really resonates with you.
And please don't get me wrong. I have truly enjoyed the many great live streaming sessions I've watched. I've especially loved that I've been able to experience some artists I wouldn't have been able to listen to otherwise in stripped down versions of themselves. What a treat. I feel like these kinds of shows may become more mainstream and important moving forward.
But live is still live. Being there is still better. I'm so glad we still get to have live music.
Oh yes, there will be distancing. There will be new rules to follow which I really don't think will be too terribly terrible. It means we can't have as many people close together, but we can still have some, we can still have music, we can still do it.
Summer just got a whole lot better with this announcement. I'm so happy we get to do this. If I see you there we can air hug from 6 feet. Oooh boy!
