Is today! Did you know? It's not a huge holiday, and potentially completely made up by me, but let's not fuss with details eh? Today I suggest we celebrate and appreciate our bandmates. I have David for a bandmate and he does a great job. Here he is laying down some bass on top of one of the live recordings we've been doing.
Little known fact - David does all of the bass, drums if we have them, production, mixing, mastering and also does most of the technical set up. He's pretty amazing with all of that. Plus, there is the pressure of being a lead guitarist. You know, with the constant adoration and thronging that lead guitarists have to deal with. It's a lot. He manages to keep a level head and still wail out those awesome guitar licks that we all love him for.
Yes David, you are appreciated. For your onstage and backstage credits. Plus, he isn't bad to work with I will tell you. You'd imagine he might get cranky with all of the pressure and the things he's got going, but honestly, he rarely does. And he doesn't take it out on other people I find....much anyway.
So, if you have a bandmate or any other kind of partner you work with on the kind of intense level that is a band, I suggest you hug your bandmate today. Appreciate them! Tell them of their greatness! Take them out for a drink maybe. Keep your band healthy and strong by appreciating each other. I am not up with the statistics, but I suspect bands break up even more often than marriages. Don't let this be you. Hug. Say the things. Be nice.
Happy Bandmate Appreciation Day everyone.
