Did you know there is a place called Coffeyville? Well there is. It is in Kansas. There you go, a new thing to know. I am enamoured by this place because it has a name akin to my favourite beverage in life....the sweet beautiful hot elixir that is coffee of course.
Turns out this place was named for a guy that won a coin toss. It was between him (the guy that found it and started the town going as a trading post - name of Coffey) and the guy that kind of mapped it out and made it into a proper town.
Also has absolutely nothing to do with coffee. They may drink coffee there, as many people do, but there is nothing extraordinary in their town for coffee drinking or making or anything with regard to coffee really. At least that I can tell.
Today, I say, here's to the good folks of Coffeyville. For no other reason than I just discovered there is a place called Coffeyville that exists in Kansas. Here's to you. May your days be long.
And for everyone else, here's to you too. Here's to those that wish us well, and those who don't...we wish them well. That was my father's toast. I always wanted to wish the ones who don't wish us well to go to hell, but that's not how he said it. I now realize the wisdom in wishing everyone well. Even those that don't have nice feelings back for us. It's less satisfying in a way, but kinder, and maybe better in the long run. Sigh...you were right again Dad. That must make 163 things you were right about so far.
Love you guys, wishing you well :)
