Don't they? Except maybe agoraphobic folks..... but truthfully, I think many agoraphobic folks would be ok at the River John parade. There really wasn't too much in the way of crowds. There were however two clowns. So if you are clown-a-phobic it might be more of a problem. But not so much if you don't like crowds. We walked the 15 minutes from our house, sat on the curb, a few other people came along and sat behind us, we watched the parade for the 10 minutes it took to go by, then we walked home with no drama. Then we ate spaghetti.
It was all kind of lovely. We didn't do the fireworks part of the evening. I am kind of silently protesting fireworks these days actually. I like the idea of everyone coming together and watching something pretty, but the problem is I think it is upsetting to animals. Poor dogs and cats are very frightened. Sometimes dreadfully so. And I am told that it is bad for the other creatures that live in the surrounding areas as well. Imagine that!
I had never thought of all of that before someone pointed it out to me. It might have been mighty Facebook. However, now I can't enjoy them thinking that it is making others terrified. It's really not much for me to give up. I don't think I ever really loved them anyways. I think I just liked the idea of everyone gathered together when it's night time all watching expectantly. It just had a cool vibe.
It's a beautiful Sunday and I am happily doing domestic things like laundry and set lists for the UK gigs. I wish you a happy Sunday.
