Our first fire in any home we've lived in. It was a grand day yesterday and it was a lovely evening for this beautiful cosy fire. We had quite a bit of brush around from the felled trees post hurricane last year and it was a good way to get rid of some of the excess.
I'm not sure why we humans love fires so much. They feel somewhat primal. It doesn't completely make sense to me, but time and again, you will find humans gathered around a fire contented and entertained by the crackles and sparks. We do this when we mightn't otherwise, wouldn't otherwise be so entertained. It's an interesting phenomenon. Give us a fire and we'll sit around and jabber indefinitely. The same situation without a fire would have us wandered off hours previously.
And I do love a fire. I am one who is very entertained by the crackles and sparks. Add in the company of other humans and I am thrilled to bits for indefinite periods of time.
Here David is with his prize stick he found for lifting the cover on and off of the fire. He was pretty pleased with his stick and it seemed to do the job well enough too. I think we should do it again. There is certainly enough brush to burn up.
And today is a cool one. I have some inside sorting to get done anyways I guess. It will be good to accomplish if nothing else.
Happy day. Good luck in your efforts.
