Hey, Yeah, International Women's day! I like this idea. Lots of people do lots of really cool things to honour and appreciate the accomplishments and uniqueness of women on this day and it feels like a great idea. Full of good intentions and kind thoughts, I really like this idea.
I thought I would enjoy my coffee today and think about some of the amazing women influences I have had that have been part of the shaping process for me.
Well, my microbiology teacher and dear friend Anne comes to mind. This woman inspired me, believed in me, and celebrated me, but she was such an awe inspiring fearless woman herself! She would fill a room with her presence. She was brilliant, hilarious, talented, loud (so loud), world-changing, and so so much fun. I loved her so much. The fact that she was instrumental in my life has been such a lucky happenstance.
When I think about her, I just want to be her. She was just that amazing. Sadly, she isn't here anymore, but her influence still runs strong. It's days like this, it's good to think of powerful ladies like her. Oh but she had a way. She would either set people on edge, or else they just got her and were blown away by her tremendous spirit. Undaunted by anything, it seemed. Oh she was brave. Her body was one of the most broken, she died several times before actually dying, but got back up to laugh about it all but once. Gosh I miss her.
I am lucky to have lots of ladies that I admire that I call friends. I think we hold each other up the best we can in the sometimes unfriendly world. I wouldn't want to be travelling along in life without that support from those great ladies. I hope I can be there for some of my women friends too. And men friends.
I do love you guys. Happy International Women's Day
