Is so good for the soul isn't it? I so much love listening to live music and I so much love playing live music. Ha! Either way, I am so happy. And non-live music is another great option for those times you can't hear or play music live, am I right?
Some songs just really speak to your soul though don't they? I used to listen to music for the express interest in getting my body moving and tapping for all good mood jiggling and shaking around. I love doing that. But I also find some music that is thoughtful and reflective, really gets into my inner sanctum of consciousness and makes me feel things.
I feel things for people that the songs are written about. I feel for the plight of the songwriter and the songwriter's muse. I feel for other people that might be in the same predicament as the song. Amazing. All that feeling.
Yesterday I was treated to hearing the Specky Cult, a band we are to be gigging with in NewCastle Upon Tyne this summer and I really love the music and the things they wrote about. Then we hunkered in for some more live recorded Jason Isbell who always has a way of making me feel too. Besides playing a couple of new ones we've been working on that I really like too, it's all a lot of feeling.
The empathy generated in music might just be a formidable force. I wonder if it could be world saving. I just wonder.
Hey it's Monday, let's save the world. Play songs. Not violent ones though eh? Wrong message.
