Yes, pickled strawberries! Our friends made pickled strawberries and gave us a bottle to try. They are meant to be a salad enhancer type of thing. Well. YUM!
Who knew? Still taste the sweetness from the strawberries, but what a beautiful tangy zip that is perfection on a salad. The pickle juice is all you will ever need in your life for salad dressing too. I have to figure out how he did this thing. He said it was simple, which encourages me a lot, but we will need to know details and amounts.
Today is cathedral arts festival day and that always is a beautiful exciting time in Regina. I'm not a huge fan of crowds of people, but the festival is one block from me, so an easy escape can be planned if it becomes too much at any point. I'm kind of excited for popcorn. They are having this old timey popcorn cart set up and I have my mind fixated on having some popcorn for some reason. There will be many beautiful artistic displays, people in costume, music happening, and kiosks of local business....probably lots of other food things too. It's quite a thing. Probably a whole bunch of things that will surprise me too, because that's the kind of festival it tends to be.
A celebration of arts is such a great idea for a city to get behind. I love that they do it. Let's hope the thunderstorms that the weather people have planned don't upset the applecart so to speak. Or the popcorn cart! Or all the business with their wares out. That would really suck to try and move everything instantaneously. We could all retreat to our place and eat more salad stuff with pickled strawberries. Although I'm not sure the loaves and fishes idea would work in real life with pickled strawberries if we had the whole hoards of people in our apartment trying to eat leftover salad stuff. Maybe it will stay sunny.
