David has lots of guitars. Some might say too many? Some might say not enough.... Perspective I guess. But one of his latest guitars he has acquired is a Sigma resonator guitar. What can I tell you, it sounds different. This guitar sounds lonely. It sounds like it has been wronged somewhere in its life. There is vulnerability and hurt in this guitar.
We've been trying it on in a few of our newer songs that we are working on and some of them are coming out... interesting. There are a couple that make me want to weep when I hear that sound in there. I just feel so bad for the guitar. All naked and cold and lonely like that. One of the songs that it seems to fit with is our song 'Love Songs'. We haven't played this song for a single soul yet, so it is very new. It's kind of a heart wrenching song about love songs that kind of lure us in with their promises, and then break our hearts with reality.
The resonator adds that extra effect of lonesome hurt in this song. With the new recording sound, live and naked, no effects or extras, just the two of us, I'm kind of in awe of what is happening here. I have no idea really how he does it, the man behind Feral Studios, but I am really liking what he's got.
Music is so much fun. Just when you think you figure out one thing, there is this whole other thing that makes you feel something completely different. I feel so lucky that we get to do this.
I'm a working girl today at the ole guitar shop, and I wish you a happy hump day. Oh, we might get our albums today! The actual physical copies! Oh my. Keep you posted...hehehe! eeeeeee
