Oh the canal. One of my favourite parts of England when we visit. This picture was yesterday and there were swans and even a somewhat grown signet if you can just make him out in the picture. I love the complete contrast from being on a busy street to walking into quiet repose with overhanging willows, various ducks and wildlife, and canal boats. It doesn't seem possible.
For us staying in Leighton Buzzard, the walk to Tesco's is along the canal and I just love it. It's so beautiful, so languid, and such an amazing escape. I can feel my body respond to the atmosphere by relaxing on a metabolic level, like a giant ahhhhhh..... And swans!
Today is David's birthday. So far for his birthday he has made me beans on toast, which was lovely of him, but I thought later that possibly I maybe should have made him a brekkie. Oops. I'll have to do better. I don't think I'm great at birthdays.
We will be going to one of my very favourite places in the world today to celebrate the birth of Sir David. Ivinghoe Beacon. Another amazing place that is the head of the Chiltern Hills. It's a short walk up to a lovely view with rolling hills and farmland. It's a little hard to describe because it comes with wind, sheep on the way up, and a feeling of expansive freeness at the top. I always love to visit and try to make it part of every trip we go on to the U.K.
A lovely day in store. Summer days of whatever we get up to are usually pretty amazing. Even a walk to Tesco's. I love it. Anyway, happy day all yous.
