Labour Day weekend. It's often the last hurrah for summer, but really doesn't need to be. It's usually the last weekend of school holidays so it's been somewhat imprinted into us that it's a last hurrah. Last chance for summer fun before school starts.
But never mind last chances or not, it's a great excuse to soak up and really appreciate the beauty that comes with summer. Beautiful summer beaches, beautiful blue skies that shine down warmly. Or maybe you've got a lake to appreciate, or a deck with some potted flowers and maybe even a tomato plant. A place. To sit outside and enjoy the air. Maybe even a cold beverage, but not necessarily.
I have a long weekend stretched out in front of me with not too many things in it as yet. What a lovely thought. This beach that David is at is one near us called Skinners Beach. Lovely.
I love our little porch area to sit but right now we seem to fighting a territorial battle with some caterpillars. They may be wanting to claim space for cocoon places to over-winter possibly. Just when I'm settled in with my book the little creatures (how do they even do it..) fly down somehow and land on me or near me. Next thing you know I've got a caterpillar crawling up my leg or sitting next to me on the arm of my lawn chair. Cheeky things! I've been trying to be patient, but they kind of freak me out a little, I won't lie. Find another place caterpillars. Under the porch is free. Just not on me please.
Anyway. We have a fridge full of food and beer, our playing music area is fully set up and functional, we have a porch to sit on, and a broom to sweep away cheeky caterpillars. Forecast looks good I say. Happy long weekend.
