The Strange Valentines had quite some exciting times over the weekend with back to back gigs in Sydney and Fall River. It was a lot of driving and a lot of fun.
To sum up. Sydney was a blast. If you haven't been to Breton Brewing, stop what you are doing and go. They have fantastic beers (my personal fav - Seven Years) and they have live music every weekend. There is a great energy in the place. They didn't know us, but they certainly did by the end of the night. The music went down really well and we met some more really amazing folks. Wow you guys.
We got back home by 3 am or so, rested up a bit, and then by the afternoon we were on to the house concert in Fall River. Now you cannot believe that we drove up to this place and they had made an amazingly elaborate sign in the theme of our album cover! We were speechless. Which is saying something. We had a beautiful crew of people show up and we started playing around 8:00pm. Now I'm sure you get bored of me gushing. It's probably far more interesting to hear how we crash and burn and when I have those stories, I promise to share all the gory details. But on this night, it was magic. I loved the people. The music came out (from us apparently) and sort of floated out there and seemed to make connections with people in really cool ways. Everyone shared their personal highlights at the end of the night and we headed home for River John with arrival around 2:00am.
So, Wow right? Best weekend of my life maybe. But boy. The old girl needed some resetting. Tired yes. Sore...for some reason...and kind of all thrown off with what is a normal awake and asleep time.
We chose a Tatamagouche trail to just get out there and try and get back some of that normal feeling. 2 chipmunks and a young deer were part of this walk which was special. As well as a couple of ATVs (less special) and some other walkers.
Turns out we've got a bit more resetting to do. We also now have a giant sign that looks like our album cover to figure out how to put up in our house. I'll have to show you a pic when we get it sorted. I'll share with you my favourite travel tips tomorrow maybe. Until then, I wish you kind happenings and a lovely day.
