This guy. How cheeky and defiant is this? He is inside the screen of our door! We have been full on involved in a territorial war on the front porch I'm afraid. They just keep coming...more and more ever few minutes....and we keep rehoming them. I don't know how many there numbers are or how they seem to just arrive on our porch with no warning, but I'm telling you, it's an effort!
We believe their aim is to find worthy cocoon space for fall. We of course would like to have our porch to ourselves. These guys even land on us by times! I'm wondering if they somehow have attained the ability to fly because it just seems improbable how else they could possibly achieve such awesome positional maneuvers.
It's intense I'll tell you. Our main weapon is the outside dustpan. David manipulates them onto it, and then flings them high. My role is to spot them as they advance upon us. I have to admit, I have become somewhat amused by betting how far he can manage to fling them. The road is the goalpost for flinging effort. If he can get them to the road, that is the ultimate military achievement here.
We have so far flung countless numbers across into the ditch and beyond, and have suffered 4 personal hits where they managed to get directly on us, and 2 managed to get beyond the screen of our front door. They are very crafty as my watchful eyes don't miss much but they have evaded our system successfully at least 6 times.
I pray your long weekend doesn't involve such battles. And if so....good luck out there.
