Look how handy he is. You know what Red Green always said, ‘If the women don’t find you handsome, they should at least find you handy’. Lucky for this one he is both handsome and now we find out, also handy. Here he is with his drill and square thing and he is really and truly building a bed.
We have quite a tiny little place that we love, but alas, it lacks much storage for things like guitar cases and the like. The queen size bed that was here when we moved in not only made a larger footprint than our usual double size that we like, it had virtually no storage underneath.
So as I chatted online with my son in Regina and looked online for sheets to buy that might fit, David busily made this bed. I heard very little cursing, if any. Oh there was one small thumb injury actually. I think his thumb got caught between a screw and the board he was screwing (not quite the Scylla and the Charybdis thankfully...or the moon and New York City which was also something someone was caught between once I believe). He’s ok you’ll be glad to know.
He is obviously pleased with his effort if not quite sore from bending and screwing, and so he should be, he did a great job. Now our bed fits much better in the space, we have storage, and the beautiful quilt that was made for us by our talented neighbour looks as cozy and gorgeous as it should.
So, the moral of the story is. If you have lots of time and not too many gigs, you might consider improving your space to fit your needs a little. For not too much money (less than $100) you too can build a platform bed that is strong, sturdy...ok yes.. a little high, but if you want storage these are minor details.
It’s a happy day, that I also got some mustard pickles made.
