The first song on the new album. A song we had not played to anyone until Sunday morning live happened just now. It's kind of a protest song about all the horrible happenings and how people are getting screwed over. I think we have been a little hesitant to play it in case it offended someone.
But you know, why write a protest song if you're too afraid to play it. If no one says anything about horrible things, they might just keep on happening. Well, we are saying something damn it. We are playing it. It is officially even added to our set list for our next gig. Not the 'To Regina With Love' event, I don't imagine they want to hear protest as part of their love-in, but after that, next go.
Yeah. Sticking it to the man. If the man even cares or is even listening. That's the thing. Sometimes you can get so worked up and worried about how people might take you, and reality is, a lot of folks aren't really listening to a songs meaning, many aren't really bothered one way or another, and the very few that might be offended are probably not your people anyway.
Sigh. I think I'll just move on.
Another winter day of more snow and slightly less cold with -14 ish out there. Might even venture out today. I'll see how much my coffee warms me.
Love you guys, happy Family day weekend, or whatever holiday your province has decided we need this weekend. I know we all care, but it's really about getting a bloody break in February, am I right?
